I have seen a great deal of mud slinging about who makes the best chip. Some people say they got nothing from the addition. Others rave constantly about how good they are. I have only tried the JET Stage 2 chip and I feel it is an excellent product. The Stage 2 version is intended for vehicles with some increased modifications such as headers. If the car has stock breathing characteristics then an aggressive chip can't do much. In addition, a lower temperature thermostat like 180 will allow the chip a greater latitude in tuning. The chip will use a more aggressive spark and fuel curve to get more power and this necessitates the use of high octane gas to reap the benefits. A chip is the easiest mod to install. I ordered a custom chip that did not have the electronic speed limiter programming that the factory includes when the vehicle does not come with speed rated tires. This feature alone makes the chip worth it.
I also obtained from JET a low temperature fan switch so that the electric fan comes on sooner than stock. This prevents the motor from running hot.
